What This Means To Us…

Save Our Stories Films exists to capture the nuances of the narrative, intentionally amplifying the sounds of the overlooked for the sake of preserving the spirit of cultural identity. Through documentary filmmaking, photography, and visual storytelling, we create stories that honor the people, places, and experiences that too often go unseen. Our work is rooted in a simple belief: every community possesses wisdom, beauty, resilience, and history worth preserving. Whether documenting artists, educators, institutions, entrepreneurs, or everyday people, we approach every project with a commitment to authenticity, cultural stewardship, and storytelling that leaves a lasting impact.

Founded by filmmaker, photographer, educator, and media innovator Nygel D. White, Save Our Stories Films was built from a lifelong dedication to using media as a tool for empowerment, preservation, and possibility. Throughout his career, Nygel has developed initiatives that expanded access to creative expression and community storytelling, including securing foundational funding for Hartford Public Library's HPL Studios through the successful development of a grant proposal that helped launch the library's state-of-the-art media production space. He also created and developed The Beat, a youth-centered streaming platform designed to elevate local voices and provide opportunities for emerging creators. Across libraries, schools, nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, and independent productions, his work has consistently centered the belief that communities should have the power to tell their own stories and define their own narratives.

At its core, Save Our Stories Films is driven by a desire to create glorious, genuine, remembering, hopeful reflections of the people, places, promise, and pain that we were once told didn't matter... We believe storytelling is more than content creation; it is an act of preservation, a form of cultural memory, and a declaration that every generation deserves to see itself reflected with dignity and depth. Through every frame, interview, photograph, and film, we seek to document not only what happened, but what it meant—and why it should never be forgotten.

For the truth they never thought would see the light of day....
